Kev & Ians and Outboard Marine Merge

Press Release

April 2021

Kev & Ian’s Marine and Outboard Marine Technologies merge.

Dear valued customer

After more than 35 years in business, Kev & Ian’s Marine is an established and respected name in the marine industry. Having changed ownership in 2018 and relocated from Manurewa to its current address at 71 Druces Road in Wiri, the company has enjoyed exceptional growth and became New Zealand’s largest Stabicraft Dealer in 2019 achieving Elite Status.

With Mercury as the preferred outboard supplier and with boat brands such as Stabicraft, Savage, Domain, Smartwave and MAC in its fold, the new location has raised the company’s profile and visibility measurably.

Through the years, the company has maintained a close working relationship with its sister enterprise, Outboard Marine Technologies, for all its outboard servicing and rigging needs. To streamline operations the two companies have decided to merge under the banner of Kev & Ian’s Marine.

“It’s a logical step in our evolution and will streamline our service offering to our customers,” said Aaron Whitley, Manager of Kev & Ian’s Marine. OMT launched operations in 2004 and since its inception the company has built a reputation for providing good value as a trusted service, rigging and repower centre.

Supported by a growing team of experienced, knowledgeable and qualified staff, the merger is set to launch a new era for Kev & Ian’s Marine. “Yes, we are sad to lose the name Outboard Marine Technologies after so many years, but the merger will allow us to focus our servicing offering, to the benefit of our customers,” said Richard Sommerville, Service Manager at Kev & Ian’s Marine.

“With the sales and service departments under one banner and meeting all authorized service requirements for Mercury, Evinrude and Stabicraft, the logistics of getting new boats ready for sale and servicing existing customers is a seamless process,” he added.

The merger will consolidate our efforts giving us better reach and synergy in terms of boat ownership and maintenance requirements,” Aaron Whitley concluded.

The merger takes place on April 1st 2021.  The Service Department is located at 85 Kerrs Road in Wiri.
